Ingredients:
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 to 4 tablespoons buttermilk
- Sprinkles or colored sugar optional
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375F 190C
In a small bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and baking powder
Set aside
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth
Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms
If the dough is too dry, add buttermilk, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together
Roll rounded tablespoons of dough into balls and place them on ungreased baking sheets
Flatten each dough ball slightly with the bottom of a glass, then sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles if desired
Bake in preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely
