Penne pasta is bathed in a rich and creamy vodka sauce, creating a luxurious and comforting dish perfect for any occasion. The vodka adds a subtle depth of flavor while the heavy cream contributes to a velvety smooth sauce that clings beautifully to every penne.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb penne pasta
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup vodka
- 1 can 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions:
Follow the directions on the package to cook the penne pasta until it is al dente
Remove the water and set it aside
Warm up the olive oil in a big pan over medium-low heat
For about one minute, until the garlic smells good, add the minced garlic
Add the vodka and let it cook for two minutes to get rid of the alcohol
Add the tomato paste and bring to a simmer
Stir every now and then for 10 to 15 minutes
Turn down the heat and add the heavy cream
Mix everything together and heat it all the way through
Toss the cooked penne pasta in the sauce in the pan after adding it
Grate some Parmesan cheese on top of the pasta and sauce
Add pepper and salt to taste
Before serving, sprinkle with fresh basil leaves
