Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground Italian sausage
- 4 hamburger buns
- 2 cups fresh spinach leaves
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions:
Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat
Divide the ground Italian sausage into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties
Season the patties with salt and pepper
Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through and have nice grill marks
Toast the burger buns on the grill for a minute or two until they are lightly browned
While the burgers are cooking, heat a drizzle of olive oil in a pan over medium heat
Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes and saut for about 30 seconds until fragrant
Add the fresh spinach leaves to the pan and saut for 2-3 minutes, or until the spinach is wilted
Season with salt and pepper to taste
In a small bowl, mix the grated Parmesan cheese and mayonnaise to create a garlicky Parmesan mayo spread
Spread the garlicky Parmesan mayo on the toasted burger buns
Place the cooked Italian-sausage patties on the bottom buns, then top with the garlicky spinach mixture
Place the top buns on the spinach and serve immediately
